Eaton’s Power Defense series launches in South Africa

Eaton has introduced the Power Defense series to the South African market, a circuit breaker with communicating electronic trip units to help optimise commercial buildings and industrial facilities' performance, and help keep employees, customers and end-users safe by reducing the risk of arc flash events.
Addressing the needs of commercial constructors as well as the residential sector, this globally rated product platform offers easy adaptability no matter the project requirement and unmatched protection while simultaneously meeting regional needs.
“The new Power Defense series is available as moulded case circuit breakers (MCCBs), and extends our motto of making what matters work to commercial construction and the residential sector. Featuring a streamlined, compact design, the common look and feel of the circuit breaker covers the entire product series,” says Dean Gopal, Product Manager for Life Safety Division.
Infinite customisation
The Power Defense series features a thermo-magnetic continuous current rating of up to 800 A in two calibrations: 40 or 50 °C. To ensure the highest degree of flexibility in panel construction, the series is available in four distinct frame sizes with three and four-pole configuration.
The platform is also characterised by a wide range of field-installable accessories that allow for further customisation, including, amongst others, various modules, auxiliary contacts, various plug-ins, motor operators, handle mechanisms, residual current circuit breakers (RCDs), undervoltage releases and shunt trips.
Lastly, Power Defense also features an all-new auxiliary contact, which is smaller, narrower, and more compact to enable panel builders to fit more AUX connections into a single panel.
Seamless simplicity
Power Defense also goes the extra mile in terms of data provision and sourcing capabilities. QR-codes on the body supply product specifications and detailed test reports on every single circuit breaker, while Eaton’s new smart article numbers, a combination of the previous type and order numbers, ensure a satisfactory sourcing process without the risk of delivery errors.
Eaton’s Power Defense circuit breakers safeguard a structure’s power system with the latest protection technology, engineered for the future. This provides company’s and its customers the assurance that allows movement and planning with confidence. That’s why Eaton’s defence is your best offense.
